Why I write

Back in the old "Hippie" days, I briefly worked at an "underground" help facility (suicide hotline, drug assistance, runaway shelter, etc., etc.) called the "Ecstatic Umbrella." We figured if God reigns forever, then it made sense to put up an umbrella.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, but I've spent the time thinking about life: the various problems we have, and what the heck we might do to change things to make a "better" (saner) world.

Now that I'm retired and have time on my hands, the thoughts I've had keep bubbling up in my mind, with no place to go. New ones come along, as well. I've decided to get them out of my head, and this seems like a way to do it.

If my thoughts bore someone, they can move on and read something else. If my thoughts interest someone, s/he can comment, and maybe we can have a dialog or something. If i just manage to provoke thought, then maybe that's not such a bad thing, either.

For better or worse, here we go: wheeeeeeee!
